First off, in 1973 ABC aired a show called “Superstars,” in which 10 athletes from different sports competed in a series of events to determine who was the best all-around athlete. After defeating heavy-weight boxing champion Joe Frazier in a weightlifting competition, Olympic Champion Pole-Vaulter Bob Seagren won the inaugural contest. Fast-forward to June 23rd, 2009, when ABC will air the remake, with some tweeks. Athletes will be paired with celebrities (seriously? we already watch them dance and work for Donald Trump), but Brandi Chastain is in it, and ever since she took off her jersey I’ve been in love with her.
Now the more unbelievable part:
What do Taylor Hanson (Hanson), James Iha (Smashing Pumpkins), Adam Schlesinger (Fountains of Wayne), and Bun E. Carlos (Cheap Trick) all have in common? Tinted Windows. That’s what. Kevin will hate this band if only for the sheer fact that Taylor Hanson is in it. While I might not like their music, I gotta say they are, at the very least, interesting.
Here’s a bunch of stuff that I’ve been wishing I had more time to watch and things I’ve been listening to while not watching those things and doing work (most stuff via Pop Candy):
If you haven’t heard of VV Brown, check her out. She’s got a couple singles out, but her “do-wop indie” is awesome.
I don’t know if any of the ten readers of this website like hip-hop mixtapes, but Chicago rapper Rhymefest has one out thats worth a listen, called the Manual. If you like that you can check out his mix-tape tribute to Michael Jackson.  He has worked with Kanye and is usually produced by Mark Ronson, meaning he likes and samples a lot of soul music and older hip hop.
Who doesn’t like reggae? Who doesn’t like reggae version of popular songs? The Easy Star All-Star Band is an incredibly tight band that has reworked Pink Floyd (Dub Side of the Moon), Radiohead (radiodread) and now the Beatles (Easy Star’s Lonely Hearts Dub Band).
I am sorry to report the sad news of the passing of Bea Arthur, most famously known for her pivotal role as Dorothy Zbornak on Golden Girls.Â

P.S. – While searching for the above picture I noticed two portrait-like paintings of Bea (alledgely) topless on google. It was really weird and without a doubt the last thing I expected to see while googling Bea Arthur. I don’t feel right.
