Believe the Hype

Hype machine post

No matter how much I like a radio station, whether on the web or on my boom box, I get tend to get annoyed with either commercials, the same songs being played, the dj’s. My most recent music source is Hype Machine (if you couldn’t tell from every post from me linking to it). The site is a collection of many different music blogs and was recently resdesigned so that it will play the mp3s from those sites easily.

It is great for listening to songs of newer bands that aren’t necessarily on their myspace, looking for a mix of a song, or find blogs with similar tastes. You can read the post and decide if you are cool enough to rep the band or you can just take the mp3 that they are posting for your next mix.

Just yesterday I found a website blog that had mp3s of David Lee Roth‘s voice isolated on “Running with the Devil” and Dr. Dre and Ice Cube (from a precursor to NWA called CIA) sounding a lot like they were RUN DMC. Also check out the new Gnarls Barkley.

Back, Back, Up…

Three simple instructions to doing the perfect Teen Wolf dance and thus ruling the world — or at least your high school and my heart. I think I am correct in assuming everyone here to be well versed in TW and TW2, which is why you’ll appreciate the following: http://www.nbc.com/30_Rock/video/#mea=166060

Now I don’t know much about 30 Rock, but I do know that I want to see more of this Werewolf Bar Mitzvah video, because it’s solid gold. I was also looking to include the prom scene from Teen Wolf, but I couldn’t find it alone, so you’ll just have to enjoy this extended series of great clips. You can skip ahead, but I can’t imagine why you wouldn’t want to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2lNvXTnXp3k

I am pretty sure that in am still equally in love with Scott Howard, Alex P Keaton, and Marty McFly — truth be told, I was a bit of a childhood crush whore.

Feist-y

reminder coverFeist released Reminder back in May and it still popular.  She released her latest single “Feel It All” from the album earlier this week.  Not only is it a good album, but the videos for the songs off it are great.  All are done with director Patrick Daughters and also done in single shots.  You probably have seen a portion of the video for 1,2,3,4 on the Ipod mini commercials.  Even when she was on the late night shows she tried to do some cool things.  Here is the video plus some other ones that I found after the jump.

Eagle vs Shark

Oh my goodness, do I love freaks.  Even more, I love movies about freaks.  If you share this opinion I suggest you check out Eagle vs Shark.  A “romantic comedy” (and I use that term loosely) about two oddballs who are obviously meant for each other.  The dialogue and tone of the film reminded me of Napoleon Dynamite.  If you enjoyed that you’ll have no trouble sitting through this gem.  I didn’t recognize any of the actors but my sister pointed out that the male lead is played by “that guy from Flight of the Conchords” (thanks Marty).

I’m trying to be cool like Brian and hook up a link to the trailer but I’m pretty sure I’m gonna fail.  Here’s hoping:   http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0494222/trailers-screenplay-E32116-314.

Margarita Club

Cesars or Ceasars? There have been rumors and even some sporadic meetings ….but is official ….Margarita Club will meet this Thursday. Where you ask? At Caesar’s of course (half a block south of Belmont on Clark). If you can feel the warm glow of a neon pink sign that says “KILLER MARGARITAS” you are in the right place! If you cannot find people you know, check the basement. When? 9pm… it’s a touch late you’re right, but suck it up Sally and come anyway…i hear Caesar puts out and you can be home by 11:30! Why? Because the margaritas are best and Kelly is bringing a meat tenderizer as a gavel…what else are you really doing? As always the more the merrier…so bring a buddy! (more…)
