Doritos Locos Tacos…wait for it…Doritos.

You read that right. It all started shortly before March 2012 (or a while before that in some Research and Development room at Taco Bell Headquarters, or wait, Doritos Headquarters, or um, maybe both). The internet was abuzz with rumors that Taco Bell would be debuting a Taco with a Nacho Cheesier Doritos flavored shell. Foodies (the kind that dig on snacks and dollar cheeseburgers) started salivating. I, at most, was intrigued, but certainly not as excited as if Jack Daniels had created a Coca-Cola flavored whiskey. At any rate, sales apparently did well, with the fast food restaurants selling over 200 million (200,000,000 numerically) of the new tacos before the end of August. I guess those were some pretty decent numbers, because less than a month ago Taco Bell launched the cooler, hipper, hotter sister of the Nacho Cheesier chip, Cool Ranch. Certainly not an unpredictable move on their part. What happened next, however, none of us could have foreseen. Pepsi, further accelerating the downward spiral humanity is riding, has revealed that they will be launching a Doritos flavor that is, you guessed it, flavored like the Doritos Locos Taco from Taco Bell. If I’ve had your attention for this long, and you know me, you’re probably checking the publish date and saying, “Nice joke, Kainer.” You’d be dead wrong. Articles have been posted on the Consumerist as well as Huffington Post almost a full week ago. If this is an April Fools’ Joke, it’s untimely and too elaborate. If you still don’t believe me, here’s a link to the Huffington Post article. Enjoy.

March Sadness

It’s NCAA tournament time again, or rather that time of year when I fill out a basketball bracket only to realize two days later that I know nothing about basketball. Never fails, and you’ll all be glad to know that hasn’t changed (special thanks to New Mexico, Wisconsin, and Georgetown in particular)

That being said, I’ve found my new favorite source for coverage on this year’s tournament, thanks to Bill Simmons’ website http://www.grantland.com/ .  They’ve added a new writer to cover this year’s tournament, Mark Titus, and if you haven’t heard of him I suggest you check him out, or check out his blog http://clubtrillion.com/ He is a former walk-on basketball player at Ohio State, and started this blog to document the life on the basketball team, which he spent warming the bench for final four teams. Pretty neat. He has a book too, called “Don’t Put Me In Coach”, which I hope to check out soon.

5 Second Films

I’m gonna go ahead and assume this hasn’t been posted here yet. I am in the process at work of trying to come up with some new marketing ideas, the 5 second video came across my mind but I’m not sure I want to pass this along to the bosses:
