The Flaming Lips are releasing an album covering The Beatles Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band with a little help from friends including Miley, Moby, Dr. Dog, My Morning Jacket, Phantogram and more. Imagine you have really only listened to this drug influenced album not under the influence of drugs for 47 years. In somewhat of the same vein, Primus is releasing an album reimagining the soundtrack to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory called “Primus & The Chocolate Factory With The Fungi Ensemble”. To promote it, they are hiding 5 golden tickets among the vinyl release for free tickets to any of their shows for life. Nothing to listen to yet except this album trailer:

Foo Fighters! They are doing their best to promote this new album, Sonic Highways, with a series on HBO and now playing all week on Letterman. Monday, they covered Black Sabbath’s War Pigs with Zac Brown and yesterday, they covered Heart’s Kick It Out (though is it a cover if they play with Ann and Nancy Wilson?). They sound really good:

Also, in that same Rolling Stone post, it mentions that Foo Fighters are playing a show at the Cubby Bear in Wrigleyville on the 17th because it was where Grohl saw his first punk show. Wtf?

Don’t know much else about this new retro soul singer, but the two songs on his Soundcloud page are great (especially on the past rainy days):
