Splendid Isolation
Some isolated tracks are funny like David Lee Roth singing Running with the Devil and some are “breathtaking.” Another gem that I forgot to mention from that Nerdist podcast was this isolated track from Gimme Shelter from Merry Clayton (who is part of a new documentary about women backup singers called 20 Feet From Stardom). Here is an article about the recording of that track where it says it is generally assumed that the emotional intensity she put into that song caused her to miscarry her baby. Bunch o’ Randy’s
Here are some random ones:
- This new Ben Stiller movie, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, looks pretty cool.
- Speaking of trailers, check out this one for David O. Russel’s movie, American Hustle. Bunch of stars, dressed for the 70’s, with a Zeppelin song over it; looks like someone finally got his wish for another Blow.
- Spent money on a multi tool not know this one-handed bottle opener was available. Via Todd’s facebook.
- Was listening to a recent Nerdist Podcast and they brought up this Australian duo called Pnau, who did an album of Elton John recreations called Good Morning to the Light. Check out this awesome song called Sad.
- They also mentioned this reinterpretation of Bjork’s song Hyperballad by the Brodsky Quartet. Probably because I have tried and not been able to get real into Bjork, I think this Brodsky Quartet string version is better.

Well, I Suck
Apologies for my last post, I am an idiot and don’t read this blog as much as I should. whoops.
But anyways, Football is right around the corner, ready to provide some well-needed relief for anyone following Chicago baseball this summer. Which means plenty of chips, dips, and Smoking Jay Cutler (If you haven’t checked it out recently, give it a look, some strong new additions). Hopefully the Bears shored up those holes in the O line,if not I think this guy might still be available…Either way I’ll be OK either way as long as this guy refs all of their games this year:
