Splendid Isolation

Some isolated tracks are funny like David Lee Roth singing Running with the Devil and some are “breathtaking.”   Another gem that I forgot to mention from that Nerdist podcast was this isolated track from Gimme Shelter from Merry Clayton (who is part of a new documentary about women backup singers called 20 Feet From Stardom).   Here is an article about the recording of that track where it says it is generally assumed that the emotional intensity she put into that song caused her to miscarry her baby.  Listen to the hoots after she hits the notes:
