Van the Rand
March 13, 2015 12:44 am- Though my (and Joan’s) favorite version of this song is from the Matchmaker (Rolling Stone even acknowledges the movie’s help of that song), listen to Van Morrison redo “Irish Heartbeat” with Mark Knopfler on a new cd of duets including Steve Winwood, Mavis Staples and Michael Buble. (Sorry I can’t find a link to the movie clip of him singing the song).
- Nora reminded me how good that whole Matchmaker album was. In addition to Irish Heartbeat, there was Shane MacgGowan and the Popes’ Rock’N’Roll Paddy, The Waterboys’ Bang on the Ear, World Party’s She’s the One, but her favorite is Shane MacGowan and Sinead’s version of Haunted.
- The Violent Femmes have released their first song in 15 years, Love Love Love, Love.
- The Detroit Cobras have a new song out, Feel Good.
- Mumford & Son’s new song, Believe, is available to listen.
- Houndmouth’s new album, Little Neon Limelight, is streaming at NPR’s First Listen.

This song really cuts that sexual tension. Ugh, God, why doesn’t Google Play or Amazon sell this movie yet?!
