Danger, Danger

Ever since the Gray Album and Gnarls Barkley, I have loved almost everything that Danger Mouse has done. His most recent work is a collaboration with a guy who calls himself Sparklehorse. The album, Dark Night of the Soul, has a ton of people featured on it, including Julian Casablancas, Iggy Pop, Wayne Coyne, Black Francis, and images from David Lynch. Although it is not being released by the label due to legal reasons, so it is being released as a 50 page book of David Lynch’s visual interpretations plus a blank CD-R. The entire cd is all over them internets now.
Danger Mouse got on the map when the legal dispute over releasing the Gray Album forced it to mainly be spread over the web, so I wouldn’t be surprised if this is a publicity stunt by the label. Whatever the reasons, this is a great album. You can listen to it over at NPR.org. Via Boing Boing.

Brian as Iconic 1980’s Movie Villians Part I

For the past couple of  months I have notice that Brian has so graciously Photoshoped my face into what seems like as many pictures as he can. The first few were pretty funny but then he took it to the next level. So as a necessary reaction I’ve utilized my limited Photoshop skills to bring about this first collage of Brian as Iconic 80’s Movie Villian Icons.

First we have a candid of Brian on the set of “Karate Kid”

Next, who could forget Brian’s role in “Running Man”

Then of course there is Brian’s cross-dressing appearance in “Willow”

Then we have the other, other haunted paining from “Ghostbusters 2”

I know I’m not nearly as good as Brian at this ShopPhoto thing, but it’s a start and I’ll be damned if I’m gonna let him just skate by and defile my good image like that.

Where the Wild Things Are

where-the-wild-things-are-posterI heard they were going to be making a live action version of “Where The Wild Things Are,” but never heard much beyond that. Above is the poster for the movie and the trailer apparently comes out on the 27th. Apparently the director is Spike Jonze, who has earned a special place in my heart from doing things like awesome skateboard videos, music videos, creating Jackass, and movies like Being John Malkovich.

Ricobene’s

shhcago-meat.jpgAnother great place to eat and Chicago institution is Ricobenes.  It’s claim to fame is the breaded steak sandwich.  Its big, breaded, covered with this “red gravy” and extremely messy.   One picture bellow is the classy version from their website and the other a picture of the just opened sandwich posted on RoadFood.com.  Imagine something in between the two of them.

I am a firm believer that city workers know the best places to eat in Chicago, and Ricobene’s is always half filled with Police officers.  So its also a pretty safe restaurant.
