Summer TV
Even though now should be the time when I enjoy the outside, there is a definite hole in my life now that television is on summer break. The crop of new fall shows looks somewhat promising with Will Arnet’s new show, Hank Azaria’s show or even Whitney Cumming’s show, but that is not enough. Thanks to Joan and Austin, I have Workaholics (which I can’t recommend more to for anyone that reads this blog), but those shows are almost over, just like the few available shows of Benson Interruption and Nick Swardson’s Pretend Time streaming on Netflix now.
First world problems, huh? So before I sound too much like a spoiled Veruca Salt or Mike Teavee, how about this unrelated note: check out the Buddy Holly tribute album streaming over at NPR.

Can’t find that much interesting stuff, so I thought I would do a bunch of stuff:
- Rob McElhenney gained 50 pounds. Not for any reason other than thinking it would be hilarious if Mac on It’s Always Sunny was now fat.
- Samuel Jackson singing Stack-O-Lee in Black Snake Moan is great, Sam Jackson reading a children’s book called “Go The Fuck To Sleep” is mind-blowing. Get it for free for a limited time from amazon/audible. A shark ate him.
- Did you know it isn’t Tom Hank’s voice on any of the Woody toys or games?
- I though this Ferris Bueller’s Last Day Off video was pretty funny.
- This site put up a collection of Weird Al polkas. Those polkas were my introduction to popular music.
- Disco saves lives: a weird PSA; weird like it should be the last sketch of a SNL.
- This is my new jam from Robyn. Maybe because the video reminds me of an awesome Darkness video (also has girlfriend in the title).
Who the —- is TED?
While this TED isn’t a bit about United’s junior airline by John Mulaney, it is something that is also fantastic and worth your time. After Austin linked to a TED talk awhile ago, I listened to more of them and found many of them to be fantastic. TED stands for Technology, Entertainment and Design and the tagline is “Ideas worth spreading.” That is basically what it is, a conference that gathers people with interesting things to say.
If you do invest time in consuming some, I would recommend going to their site and watching the featured ones first, or if you are going to listen to them, search “ted talks” and pick some of the more popular ones.
