We’re gift-wrapped, kitty-cats

With a topic like Songs Not On Spotify, Kevin probably saw this one coming from a mile away. BBC Radio’s Live Lounge usually features an artist performing one of their songs and then a cover. There are some great covers that have come out of that. The Arctic Monkey’s cover of Girls Aloud’s Love Machine is one of my favorites. Here is that:

Another great cover from the Live Lounge is their cover of Amy Winehouse’s You Know I’m No Good.

Cold War Kid

During my first job after college, the time I spent looking for music to listen to while working matched the amount of time actually working. And because of the expendable income that job afforded me, I finally had money to buy music. One my most memorable finds and purchases were the Cold War Kids EPs Up In Rags and With Our Wallets Full. For this series of “Songs Not On Spotify“, I could post any of the great songs Heavy Boots, Don’t Let Your Love Grow (away from me), Expensive Tastes, The Wedding, The Soloist in the Living Room, or more, but the non-spotify song that sticks out in my mind is a cover from an EP they released on their website (I think this is the post where I found it), Benefit At The District EP, I Don’t Wanna Grow Up. Tom Wait’s original is great, but my love of the Cold War Kids version because it was the first time hearing it.

Here is that song:

Lollipop, lolli, Lollipop, lolli

Another song that is not on Spotify is The Chordettes’ Lollipop (Squeak E. Clean & Desert Eagles Remix) that I originally heard from the soundtrack to the underrated movie Whip It. It might be more of an earworm than a hit, so you’ve been warned.
