I don’t know if this idea was stolen from Wilco and Billy Bragg in their Mermaid Avenue movie about the lost notebook of Woody Guthrie, but this promises to be more entertaining. Hank Williams, dying at 29, left a series of songs that he never recorded. A bunch of famous artists recorded them, including Jack White, which you can hear over at Rolling Stone.

Bill Burr
I tried giving Whitney Cumming’s show, Whitney, a watch based off of the recommendations of other comedians I listen to. Then realize they weren’t recommendations as much as they were “hey, that other comedian has a show…” Though her time on the recent Comedy Central Roasts were funny, both her latest standup special and new show are not what I find funny. So I was nervous about watching Bill Burr’s comedy special on Netflix based off of the same recommendations. You might remember him from Chapelle show. Then I ended up watching it because I ran out of other things to watch and gave it a chance. I loved it. It is a good mix of the self deprecating humor that most comics have plus the boston tough guy shit that some other comics have. Here is a bit of it:

The New Thang…
Thang is slang for thing, FYI. It really seems that Hollywood wants to make easy money off of recreating movies that people already love in it’s exact form. The Thing was an amazing movie that, even though I had first watched the movie just 1 year ago, both in visual effects and just as a story. And while I didn’t care about 1980’s The Fog and even less about it’s remake, I am very angry about it’s remake version. Just as the “urbanization” of thing changes it for thang, Kurt Russel’s character is traded for a hot woman. Why change/update something that didn’t need to be changed/updated:
